Navigating the Transition to Studying Abroad: SIM’s International Students Support Services

Embarking on a new academic journey in a foreign country can be both exciting and overwhelming for international students. Recognizing the need for a seamless transition, SIM’s International Students Office(ISO) provides a suite of onboarding services that are committed to ensuring that every new full-time international student at SIM Global Education feels welcome, supported, and ready to embrace their educational experience in Singapore.

Feel at Home, Away from Home

We support you every step of the way, from even before you land in Singapore. Check out the resources available to you through our International Student Office.

Buddy Programme

Through this initiative, new students are paired with experienced peers who serve as mentors. Buddies provide insights into campus life, academic expectations, and offer a friendly face to help navigate the initial weeks in a new environment.

Accommodation Recommendation

We recognize the importance of a comfortable and affordable living space for students’ overall well-being. The service provides valuable recommendations for accommodation options, ensuring that international students find suitable places to reside during their studies.

Singapore 101

Surely you have a dozen questions about living in Singapore. How to open a bank account? Where to get a sim card? Where to buy this and that? ISO will be here to answer all your questions.

Arrival Meet & Greet

The arrival in a new country can be overwhelming. ISO’s Arrival Meet & Greet service aims to ease this process by having a friendly face meet you at the airport and sending you to your accommodation, ensuring a stress-free arrival and a warm introduction to the vibrant city of Singapore.

Welcome Reception

To foster a sense of community and belonging, ISO organizes Welcome Receptions for incoming students. These events provide an opportunity to meet fellow international students, faculty, and staff. It’s a chance to establish connections, share experiences, and begin building a support network that lasts throughout the academic journey.

Becoming a Student’s Pass (STP) Holder

Navigating the intricacies of visa applications and pre-departure preparations can be daunting. ISO provides comprehensive information on visa requirements and assists students in completing the necessary paperwork. A detailed pre-departure checklist ensures that students are well-prepared for their journey, minimizing any potential stressors.

Hear from the students!

“I have a chance to talk to someone who speaks the same language as me, and that definitely makes the transition smoother,” said Phaisakamas Athikit (Andy), from Thailand.
